Labor Day Links

Happy Labor Day! I hope the extra day gives most of us time to recover from the celebration of Saturday's win. Check out below the latest news on Bama.

What a night Mark Ingram had! He rushed for 150 yards and had 35 yards receiving. His remarkable performance earned him SEC Offensive Player of the Week. Check out the article here. I would also like to say that Roy Upchurch looked great. He could have had more yards if he would not have fumbled late in the game and you gotta love the Touchdown were he ran over the VT safety!

OK. Rumors were true. Alabama has some version of the Wildcat formation which is being called the Wild Tide formation. Check out some offense analysis here and here. Now, I like that we are mixing things up. I read that the Wild Tide will be a part of the offense, but not a crutch. I have to say that I loved Alabama's 4th quarter offense which had very little of the Wild Tide.

Who else thinks that Marcel Dareus will have a huge role on the team this year? Check out this article here. Now I knew Dareus had been impressive during the spring and summer work outs, but he looked dominating on the field. I don't think there is a better front 7 than the Tide!

A couple of notes from the game:
  •  Leigh Tiffin was 4 for 5 on field goals. He now ranks 4th in Bama History with 57 field goals. The record is 78.
  • Bama had 5 Sacks on Saturday. Rolando McClain - 2, Marcel Dareus - 1.5, Josh Chapman - .5 (Shared with Dareus), and Javy Arenas - 1. This is great considering Bama only had 26 sacks in 2008

Lastly, John Parker Wilson made the Falcons roster. Check out the article here. Congrats to JPW. Many people said that he couldn't play in the pros, but he has proven them wrong.
