The Long Haul

It's official. Roy Upchurch will not shave his beard as long as the Crimson Tide remain undefeated this season. Upchurch returned to action last Saturday with three catches against the Razorbacks. However, he did not carry the ball once, which could be a sign that the coaching staff is still wary of his high ankle sprain. Injuries have plagued Upchurch's career at the Capstone, yet he still remains positive and upbeat.

Along with a few touchdowns last Saturday, the wide receivers are "catching" some praise for their run block support. One of the more notable plays was Marquis Maze's block that allowed Mark Ingram to score on a 14 yard reception. “That wouldn’t have been a touchdown if he didn’t make the block,” remarked Coach Saban “The way people try to run support when you can run the football, if the receivers can’t block they are always going to have an extra guy in the box.”

Well we just put away one SEC opponent last Saturday and in two days we will face another, now is the time to put up or shut up. If the past is any indication of what will come in the future, we should perform well against an average Kentucky team; however the worst is yet to come with back to back to back to back games against Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennesse and LSU. Now is the time to stay focused and alert.
