Say Bye to the mental fatigue
Thursday, October 29, 2009
This bye week comes at a much needed point in the season. The Crimson Tide just finished up a five game stretch of all SEC games and they were mentally and physically fatigued. Nick Saban said “I could see it in the players in meetings last week. They were struggling to pay attention in the meetings. So it’s not just physical, it’s probably more mental than physical. They’re not ready for another game plan, and the cumulative affect of that is you make more mental errors in the game, you don’t execute as well and it affects your performance.”
Since it's the bye week, we have little to dwell on except the block, a smitten Kiffin, and the anxiety of a new Daniel Moore painting. There is a semi-exciting game tonight with Virginia Tech Hokies facing the menacing North Carolina Tarheels, but that will barely hold me over until Saturday. I was dwelling on this youtube video below, and reliving the moment of being saved by Terrence Cody. I love how the referee points to the live ball after the blocked field goal and how our players are the only ones going after it. My cigar is still burning...
