It wasn't what we expected in the first half of the game, but we eventually pulled away in the end. Greg McElroy completed 14 consecutive passes, a school record, and Trent Richardson rushed for two touchdowns to help improve the Tide's record to 2-0. Now, I've switched over to watching the Gamecocks and Dawgs fight it out. Roll Tide and enjoy the win

Friday is finally here. Now we can slow down at our jobs and think more about the weekend. Anyone heading to T-town today? Now we know that Saban doesn't want us to talk about a letdown, but I sure hope this is not a Tulane game from last year. We definitely need to differentiate this year's squad from last year's squad.
OK. I will get this out of the way. Here is another preview of this week's game from BOL. Click here and enjoy. Bama football previews are a dime a dozen. Everyone has their own opinion. But... The facts are that FIU is a small program from the Sunbelt conference. They have some playmakers, but Bama is picked to win by a large margin.
Mark Ingram returned to practice after missing two days with the Flu. Read here. Do you think Mark will have over 100 yards this weekend? Our do you think Saban will pull him out and let Richardson or Upchurch hit it up?
Now, lets recap stories from this week
Bama moved to #4 after dominating VT in the 4th quarter. Read here.
Saban is taking FIU serously. Don't ask him about a letdown. Read here.
Deaderick is happy to have a second chance. Read here.
Terry Grant has been moving around from RB to WR. Read here.
And don't forget to watch the FIU fight from a few years back. See it here.
When most of us think about FIU, we draw up memories of their brawl that took place back in 2006. Remember that player who used his "head gear" as a weapon? Oh the repercussions of that night. Besides the suspensions on both sides, Lamar Thompson was fired by CSS, and the network edited out his comments when it re-broadcasted the game on October 18. Later in the day, he told ESPN Radio's Dan Patrick that he had gotten carried away in the moment. Well since that infamous street war, Mario Cristobal has made modest improvements with his team, but it's always nice to reminisce about the good ole days, right?
Only a couple more days to go and we'll be able to watch our Tide take the field again. Do you think we will see some more freshman this Saturday? Do you think Trent Richardson will carry the ball more? I do and I can't wait to see them get in the game. For more on this topic, check out this article here.
And now for our FIU VS Bama preview: Check it out here.
And just so you know: Florida International at Alabama, 7 p.m. ET, Pay per view/ESPN360.com and ESPN GamePlan.
And in case you couldn't find this Intro Video on Rolltide.com, I am now able to post this on the blog. Enjoy
Before you watch Coach Saban's press conference below, check out this commentary from espn.com on why Alfy Hill's commitment has bigger implications than just improving our defense. It literally means that Alabama can recruit from Texas to the Atlantic Ocean in the South and up the East Coast. We haven't seen such an expansive recruiting policy since the Bear.
Nothing makes hump day feel better than having a four day work week! Lets see what news hump day brings us.
First, some of us read that Mark Ingram was missing from practice yesterday. I was originally worried that he had hurt his knee during the VT game, but it appears that he has the flu. Click here for more. Why can't Saban figure out a way to systematically give everyone the flu so that we can get it out of the way? I don't want to be wondering each weekend if we will be missing key players.
If you were not at the Georgia Dome this past weekend, you probably missed the Alabama Football Intro video. Rolltide.com has the video on the bottom right of their website. Click here.
Also, what did y'all think of Bama's pass rush? 5 sacks in the opening game is great! Check out this article
And the video of the day: Have you heard of UT's campaign for Eric Berry? Can you believe this cheesy video promoting him? Enjoy, laugh, and don't forget to mock your UCheat buddies.
Alfy Hill, the fourth ranked prospect in North Carolina, committed to the Crimson Tide today. During a ceremony in front of his student body at West Brunswick High in Shallotte, NC, he choose to play for Coach Saban over offers from North Carolina and other schools. Hill is a 6-foot-4, 225 pound defensive end that is the 22nd commitment for the 2010 season.
Those of you looking for a good scouting report on FIU (remember that this is the time to focus) I have found a site for you to check out. This site explains how FIU has a seasoned offensive group that returns nine starters from last year and 3 or 4 more players that contributed heavily on the offensive side.
Also, get the scoop on this T.Y. Hilton kid, who is somewhat of a Percy Harvin impersonator. Saban gave a very stern warning about watching out for number 4 (Hilton). I have posted a video of this guy returning a punt last year against Kansas. Let's hope a special teams are in better shape for this game.
Ok. So remember how they released the new polls today? Apparently, there was one AP ballot that ranked 1. Alabama 2. BYU 3. Oklahoma St. 4. Florida. The ballot was filled out by Doug Lesmerises of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. Read more about his reasoning and view on the AP voting guidelines.
If you don't think that Saban is taking FIU seriously, then you should read this article published by the Washington Post. When talking about Florida International wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, Saban told reporters, "This guy No. 4 is a better offensive player than anybody that we played against last week." I wonder how the Hokies feel about that statement.
USAToday.com just released the new coaches poll today and the Crimson Tide climbed to the # 4 spot. This ascension is due to their grueling win against the then ranked #7 Hokies (and now ranked #15) and the BYU upset over the Oklahoma Sooners.
In the AP Poll, Alabama moved up a spot to the #4 position while its fellow SEC Westerner, Ole Miss, moved up two spots to claim the #6 spot overall. However, the most notable achievement for the Tide this week in the AP poll was their two first place votes.
All in all, the one spot advancement for the Crimson Tide in the polls was an expected move and welcomed by some and loathed by the rest.
Ok. Labor Day weekend is over, and we are all back at work struggling to remember how to function. Out 24 hours of enjoying the win just got extended a few more days... and then we'll get focused.
Our opponent this weekend is the highly touted FIU which could possibly be one of the top tier teams from the Sunshine State this year (I kid). Their coach, Mario Cristobal, tangled with the Crimson Tide in the past as an all-conference left tackle for the Miami Hurricanes when they lost to the Crimson Tide, 34-13, in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, 1993. Check out his thoughts on coaching his team and playing against Alabama this weekend.
Does the ACC lead the nation in irrelevance? John Feinstein of the Washington Post thinks so. He says it is so bad that the ACC has been reduced to celebrating a respectable loss to a high ranking team. Apparently, the Hokies had the most respectable showing this past weekend considering two of the ACC members lost to division 1-AA teams. Poor ACC. I hope this does not turn into an effort to undermine the importance of our win, like the Clemson game last year.
Lastly, if you partied too much this Labor Day weekend and forgot why you even started, check out these scenes from the game with some post game commentary. Also, do you love rammer jammer as much as I do? Enjoy and RTR
Happy Labor Day! I hope the extra day gives most of us time to recover from the celebration of Saturday's win. Check out below the latest news on Bama.
What a night Mark Ingram had! He rushed for 150 yards and had 35 yards receiving. His remarkable performance earned him SEC Offensive Player of the Week. Check out the article here. I would also like to say that Roy Upchurch looked great. He could have had more yards if he would not have fumbled late in the game and you gotta love the Touchdown were he ran over the VT safety!
OK. Rumors were true. Alabama has some version of the Wildcat formation which is being called the Wild Tide formation. Check out some offense analysis here and here. Now, I like that we are mixing things up. I read that the Wild Tide will be a part of the offense, but not a crutch. I have to say that I loved Alabama's 4th quarter offense which had very little of the Wild Tide.
Who else thinks that Marcel Dareus will have a huge role on the team this year? Check out this article here. Now I knew Dareus had been impressive during the spring and summer work outs, but he looked dominating on the field. I don't think there is a better front 7 than the Tide!
Leigh Tiffin was 4 for 5 on field goals. He now ranks 4th in Bama History with 57 field goals. The record is 78.
Bama had 5 Sacks on Saturday. Rolando McClain - 2, Marcel Dareus - 1.5, Josh Chapman - .5 (Shared with Dareus), and Javy Arenas - 1. This is great considering Bama only had 26 sacks in 2008
Lastly, John Parker Wilson made the Falcons roster. Check out the article here. Congrats to JPW. Many people said that he couldn't play in the pros, but he has proven them wrong.
