Back to Back Undefeated Regular Seasons
As we head into the Third Saturday of October match-up with Tennessee, much of the press is discussing the possibility of a collision between an Undefeated Alabama VS an Undefeated Florida. ESPN's Chris Low mentions that the SEC has never produced two undefeated teams in a regular season, and the last time the SEC had a undefeated National Champion was a 1998 Tennessee team. Both teams are chasing history for the conference. Interesting, huh?
It also makes me appreciate the difference a great coach makes. With all the press and coverage swarming the Tide, it could be very distracting. Thats why all these records, interesting tidbits, campaigns for Heisman, and etc are really for the fans. Yeah, of course Mark Ingram wouldn't mind having the Heisman, but he would hands down rather play for a National Championship. We should all thank Nick Saban for managing the distractions that swarm the team. With all that has happened this season, he has been worth every penny.
And who among us does not want to play an undefeated Florida in the SEC Championship game? I can't wait to rip that away from them. I can't wait to make Timmy Tebow go out without his goal of a undefeated season. RTR.

Mal Moore makes the Vols surrender before Game-Day
Lane Kiffin agrees with the AP poll and believes that Alabama should be No. 1 over Florida. He's quick to point out the Tide's 35-7 victory over the Razorbacks and the fact that the Gators barely slipped by with a 23-20 performance. Ummm, thanks Kiffin?
Innocence Lost: Remember when a viable costume for Halloween was Phil Fulmer? Now it just doesn't seem relevant anymore.
We've been following the whole Orange jersey request by Tennessee, and Mal Moore made this comment in the Mobile Press Register: "it is our desire to maintain the custom of the visiting team wearing their visiting jerseys. We'll continue to wear our white jerseys when we visit Knoxville next year." I think we're just screwing with their psyche and we want them in the mindset of capitulating before the toe meets the leather on Saturday.
Pat Forde on ESPN.com gives respect to the Crimson Tide Offensive line. When talking about replacing a void from last year he writes, "The Crimson Tide lost three starters, two of them All-Americans, from the 2008 road-grading crew that made Glen Coffee and John Parker Wilson look good. Now the rebuilt line is making Mark Ingram and Greg McElroy look better."

Defense now ranked #1!!
After jumping Florida for the #1 spot in the AP poll, the defense now has its turn. The Tide's D has not allowed a touchdown since the 4th quarter of the Kentucky game. The Tide is now #1 in total defense surpassing Florida who put up a poor showing against Arkansas. Many teams would see a drop in performance after losing a star linebacker (Hightower) and a star cornerback (Arenas), but the reserves picked up more than the slack. Wasn't Marquis Johnson amazing against the fade route?

Dominating the No. 1 Spot

If you think Coach Nick Saban is going to stop and enjoy the recent success by the Crimson tide, then you are dead wrong. Yeah we're 7-0 and working on back to back undefeated regular seasons but we are far from a finish product. When asked about his inability to enjoy the moment he said, “Probably to a fault, what happens to you when you’re like that is that you don’t enjoy what you accomplish because you live in a constant state of anxiety with small moments of relief,” Saban said. "And that's something that just doesn't change." And his anxiety won't calm down until he turns Alabama into a consistent dominant team.
This is the second straight season in which the Crimson Tide has reached the No. 1 ranking in the AP poll. When was the last time, the Tide accomplished this feat in consecutive seasons? The last time was 1978, 1979, 1980. In fact, since 1980 and before Coach Saban, the Tide had only reached the No. 1 ranking once, after they beat Miami in the 1992 Sugar Bowl. Fast forwarding to the present and to this upcoming game with Tennessee on Saturday, and this will be the fifth team that the Tide has played as the No. 1 team under Nick Saban. Impressive? or is it becoming routine?
The Watch at SI.com names a Halfway Heisman winner each year for the past four years with 2009 being the fourth year of the practice. They have been successful at naming two of the past three winners of the coveted trophy. Last year they erroneously chose Colt McCoy as the winner. Therefore, this year they have chosen Mark Ingram as their Halfway Heisman winner. His 68 yard drive and touchdown run in the last seven minutes of last Saturday's victory vaulted him to the forefront of the Heisman race.
