Blindsiding the LSU Tigers

Friday, November 6, 2009

Too many mountain references in this article about the match-up between Terrence Cody and LSU's Sophomore center, T-Bob Herbert. Herbert a 6-3, 282 pound lineman that resembles a character from the "Varsity Blues" film in both name and stature, has the difficult task off blocking Terence"the field goal blocker" Cody in tomorrow's game. What is his tactic? Getting low and staying under Cody. "In a situation like this, you have to go back to base fundamentals like staying low and driving your feet," Hebert said. "It's not going to be easy. Any time you're going against a guy like him, technique is key. I'm not going to be able to match him in the size category. So if I'm going to win, I'm going to have to win with technique." Yeah, let us know how well your "technique" works for you. Better yet, we'll all witness first hand tomorrow how fundamentally sound you are as a player.

As we warm up our football minds and shut down our working ones, go over to espn.com and check out some general trivia about the SEC this season. Most notable is the fact that Alabama can clinch the Western Division title tomorrow with a win over LSU. But I bet you already knew that, right?

Do you think LSU fans are a little sensitive when talking about their former coach, Nick Saban? Once again, as this article claims, LSU fans will be "blindsided" when Coach Nick Saban shows up in the film, "The Blind Side" wearing LSU colors. I hope they find whatever motivation they need to show up on Saturday, because you know Coach Saban will have the Tide ready to roll. RTR!

Ever wonder why LSU's nickname is Corndog?

Thursday, November 5, 2009

As Thursday slowly passes by, I found an interesting read on a message board about LSU's nickname: corndog. Read the post here. I have to say that it fits them perfectly. RTR.

And the quote of the day to pump you up:

"So I want everybody to think here for a second, how much does this game mean to you? 'Cause if it means something to you, you can't stand still. You understand? You play fast! You play strong! You go out there and dominate the man you're playing against, and you make his ass quit! That's our trademark! That's our M.O. as a team! That's what people know us as!"

Moore Paintings and focusing on the LSU Tigers

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

In anticipation for Daniel Moore's new painting, the tuscaloosanews.com is reporting that Mr. Moore's legal woes may be coming to an end. U.S. District Court Judge Robert Propst sided with the artist and stated, "This court concludes that the depiction of the uniforms in the paintings is incidental to the purpose and expression of the paintings; that is, to artistically depict and preserve notable football plays in the history of University of Alabama football." However, this is not the final judgement in this case, and both sides were asked to submit final proposed judgement based on Propst's opinion.

When talking about the upcoming game against the LSU Tigers, Crimson Tide Quarterback Greg McElroy muttered "If we were playing the smallest school in the country, it would still be a big game because it's the next game. That's just the way this team operates." For a preview of this Saturday's game, go check out cbssports.com's analysis here.

Will Colin Peek be ready for the LSU game? You make that judgement by watching this short clip below. I think everyone and anyone that can walk will try to convince Saban that they can play this weekend. RTR

LSWHO?

Monday, November 2, 2009

If you felt like the Tennessee game was a heart stopper, then I guarantee that your heart will be racing for the LSU game. As much as we wanted to beat Tennessee, it's importance towards the SEC Championship game is Second to the game this week. This week's match-up decides the SEC West leader. The Tide can clinch the SEC West with a win or battle chance with a loss to LSU.

But the real question is. . . Which LSU team will show up? The one that struggled against Washington or the one that steamrolled Tulane? Hopefully we will not need a OT interception (Thanks Rashad) or the new Daniel Moore moneymaker -- The Mount Cody Block.

After having a couple of weeks off, we should be well rested and ready for the 4th quarter of the season. I like where we are at... most of the nation thinks that we are dropping (Click here or here), but I think we are power napping. This week is all that matters. RTR.

By the way, anyone else following this storyline? Does Brandon Spikes really need an advantage over Georgia? The news is that Urban Meyer suspended him for just the first half of the Vanderbilt game. Lame. See the video below if you are confused.
